Lessons from Bajaj Chetak
The first vehicle I drove was the Bajaj Scooter 1988 model. My cousin who taught me how to drive told me if you can master this vehicle you can drive any vehicle easily. What an over statement was my first reaction. Now I look back and appreciate what he meant.
Over the past ten years of all the vehicles I drove bajaj vehicles have left a mark on me. From the early Bajaj chetak, Bajaj 12V electronic, Boxer and the latest Pulsar all these vehicles have been a good learning for me.
BAJAJ, the first impression I had as a kid was my dad driving a blue color scooter. The same one which had waiting queues of 4 to 5 years (ridiculous in todays times). The vehicle served us very well in all the long n short trips we used to take, four people could have a comfortable ride on it. It truely became our HAMARA Bajaj !!!!! as the ad portrays.
Salient features of the vehicle
1. Rugged: It never gave up running, the engine just had to fire once it never stopped. any terrain tar roads, country side, hill treks the vehicle never bugged. It taught me how to be resilent to different situations
2. Versatile: The way the machine used to operate was amazing, you could drive for long stretches without clutch wire. what creative mechanism was put in place by bajaj designers. You never had the worry of getting it repaired, any mechanic at the street corner could tickle with the vehicle n get it online
3. Image: Bajaj always carried the image of prestige with it, till the onslaught of motor bikes. It was a must in any dowry during marriages. Now the image which the scooter carries had taken a very bad beating. To counter this attack Bajaj did a change over new logo, push marketing and the ads( girl removing hands off the husband when she encounters an elderly person on the road man that ad was so touchy)
When i drove the scooter last week i deeply felt how much has the vehicles behaviour influenced me. So the writeup on HAMARA Bajaj.
